Most shoppers, particularly outside of major cities, travel to high streets by car. Parking, its availability and cost, are issues across the country. If any or all of these factors discourage footfall they can make life difficult for high street businesses. If shoppers drive elsewhere instead then the whole high street loses out on their spending.

So some retailers have taken the initiative to ease shoppers’ pain and engender customer loyalty by coveraging part or even all of consumers’ parking charges.

The details of how this is made possible will vary depending on local parking arrangements, but where parking providers issue a ticket or where local parking costs are known and well understood it’s often possible to provide a rebate that will make a shopper very happy. Some stores and even some councils arrange to have a cashback voucher printed alongside the parking ticket.
