5 Outdoor Advertising Ideas For Local Shops

Jack Pilcher All Posts, Brand, Discovery advertising, brand, discovery, Outdoor advertising

Outdoor advertising is an advertising strategy that reaches consumers when they are outside their homes. We all see outdoor advertising every day of our lives. In fact, our streets are so saturated with them, that it can be harder to grab the attention of the average consumer.

Consumers are exposed to hundreds of outdoor advertisements every day. So as a business owner, you have to strive to ensure you advertise well. It’s imperative to the growth of your company.

Here are five efficient and effective outdoor advertising ideas for local businesses:

Billboards

Billboards are most effective when located close to the business being advertised. They are only looked at for a few seconds, so don’t fill it with complex messages and information. Think of a billboard as conversation starter. It’s there to intrigue, not to inform. So keep it simple and very eye-catching.

Transit Advertising

This type of outdoor advertising is placed on modes of public transportation. Here, ads are placed in or outside vehicles in motion. Transit advertising provides high visibility to your product or service because it will be seen by a lot of people at traffic light stops, slow-moving traffic areas and bus-stops.

Street Furniture Advertising

In Street Furniture advertising, ads are placed on objects and pieces of equipment that have been installed along streets and roads. They are placed on park benches, bus shelters, telephone booths, kiosks and so much more. With the rising stiff competition and costs for advertising on street furniture, retailers should advertise where there’s a lot of traffic in an area. It is better to have one street furniture advert that is viewed by 3,000 people every day, than have 4 or 5 that are seen by only a few hundred people.

Clean Advertising

This is very effective when it comes to specifically attracting local customers. It is done by pasting stencil artwork of your advert on pavements. It is far cheaper, when compared to other forms of outdoor advertising and it can be done almost anywhere. As long as it is on the pavement.

Posters

Posters help engage consumers by getting the word out, in public spaces. They should be a little more comprehensive than billboards and should aim for a very eye-catching design.
